Thank you for choosing to attend events at the Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre!
San Diego Theatres wants all of our event patrons to enjoy their event experience from start to finish, so when you schedule your event travel, we urge you to keep the following in mind while making your plans:
Our Theatres are located in downtown San Diego and you should allow plenty of time to secure desired parking. Please be aware parking rates may vary depending on what building or lot you choose and premium rates may be in effect during high-volume event activity downtown—most parking does require payment either at time of entry or at exit. Always be aware of your surroundings when walking to and from your parking area and the event. Both of our Theatres are located adjacent to public-access downtown plaza and park areas, so there may be other activities happening in these areas as you arrive for your event. Feel free to check with any of our uniformed San Diego Theatres Public Safety staff near Theatre entrances, if you have any questions or concerns.
Bag checks may be done at any event prior to entry. Please be aware that all bags are subject to search, at the discretion of Theatre Management.
To further enhance our patrons’ safety and security while attending events at both the Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre, the following items are prohibited and are not allowed into either venue:
Any Type of Weapon or any item that may be used as a weapon
Bags or Purses larger than 12” x 12” (all bags subject to search at the discretion of Theatre Management)
Outside Food or Beverages (one small, unopened bottle of water per patron is allowed)
Cameras (personal or professional) unless explicitly allowed by artist
Laptops and/or Tablets
Civic Theatre and Balboa Theatre venues are protected by 24-hour video surveillance.
