“The Great Believers” is a historical novel about the terrors and tragedies of the AIDS epidemic and its repercussions, through a story about friendship and redemption in the face of tragedy and loss, set in 1980s Chicago and contemporary Paris.
It won the Stonewall Book Award, was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, and was optioned by Amy Poehler for television.
The program will also feature an address by Terry Cunningham, Retired Chief of the STD, HIV and Hepatitis Branch of Public Health Services for San Diego County, and a performance by the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus.
Books will be for sale by the Library Shop. A book signing will take place immediately following the program.
Tickets are free but registration is encouraged as space is limited.
