Get ready for a night of raucous laughter! Harold Lloyd stars as a boy trying to make it in the big city – telling little white lies of “success” to his girlfriend along the way. When she shows up for a surprise visit, he attempts to earn $1,000 in the strangest way possible: scaling a building!

After attending a packed screening in its first week, P.W. Gallico of the New York Daily News said: “As photocomic entertainment it is in a class by itself. We have rarely heard people laugh and shriek in a theatre as they did yesterday.” The film was added to the United States National Film Registry in 1994.

Fun Fact: Harold Lloyd met actress Mildred Davis when casting for his short film From Hand To Mouth in 1919. Davis went on to play Lloyd’s leading lady in multiple films, with Safety Last! being their final film as onscreen love interests. By the time the movie premiered in April 1923, Lloyd and Davis were married.
