This week marks an incredible milestone at San Diego Theatres as the San Diego Civic Theatre is turning 60! For six decades, the Civic Theatre has been a cornerstone of our city’s cultural and artistic community, proudly serving as a space that creates moments that matter for generations of San Diegans. From Sonny & Cher and La Bohème to Wicked and The Nutcracker, the Civic Theatre's stage has come alive with performances that entertain, delight, and inspire.
The Civic Theatre has a long-standing legacy as a venue created for the people and community of San Diego. In 2024 alone, we welcomed over 300,000 patrons to more than 140 performances, contributing $23 million to the local economy through entertainment and shared experiences.
The Civic Theatre is more than a building—it’s the home of countless memories for hundreds of thousands of patrons annually and serves as a showcase of the world-class talent that San Diego offers. In 2025, the theatre itself takes the spotlight as we kick off a yearlong diamond anniversary celebration dedicated to honoring our history and building a vibrant future.
